v Surrey (OD Cup Final)

Lancashire: Jennings, Davies, Jones, Croft, Lvingstone, Vilas, Brown, Clark, Mennie, Parry, Anderson

Surrey: Burns, Stoneman, De Bruyn, Jacks, Worthwick, Foakes, Pope, Clarke, Curran, Batty, Morkel

Surrey won the toss, and opted to bat. With only 36 runs off the power play, Lancashire were in the driving seat. Eventually the pressure took its toll, and Stoneman (33) skied to Mennie at long on, off the bowling of Jennings. The run rate failed to improve during the middle period, with Lancashire keeping things tight but not taking wickets. But as the acceleration was attempted, Burns (30) was run out and Jacks (3) was caught at slip when Anderson returned. In the same over Anderson (2-29) also accounted for Borthwick (6). In the closing stages, De Bruyn (70) and Pope (0) fell in three balls from Clark (3-64) and Foakes (35) followed next over. Parry (0-52) caused problems from the other end to conceded only 7 from the penultimate over and shortly after, Surrey closed on 230-7, considered to be below par.

Lancashire started well with opening pair Jennings and Davies putting on 50 at a run a ball. Jennings passed 50 and settled back to allow Davies (53) to cut free bringing up his fifty in equal good time before being beaten for pace with the score on 126. Jones (50) took advantage of some wayward wide bowling from Borthwick (0-38) to chalk up a half century of his own before being bowled attempting an unnecessary hook. Jennings (90) forced the pace to attempt to seal a century but was caught on the crease.  With only a handful of runs needed, they were knocked off with relative ease to seal the cup!
