v Loughborough

Wasn't intending to update about pre-season but we had a really good match. Naturally three day games tend to end in a draw particularly when the last two sessions of day 3 are lost to rain.

A huge blow was the loss of Captain Liam Livingston for 4 weeks to a fracture in training, whilst Buttler was called up to the IPL.

I threw in Marsh (one of the youth signings mentioned in my Squad post) at number 3 as we are already light on batting and it'd give me a chance to see what he could do.

Predictably it was a draw.

First Innings (Won Toss) 752-8d

Croft 171

Hameed 164

Marsh 142

Loughborough 101 & 71-0

Onions 4-18

Only Jennings failed to get over 26 in the first innings, though he did pick up 2 wickets. I've decided to give him more training on the bowling aspect as he could be a useful 4th seamer if I need a longer batting lineup. The 2nd innings bowlers were given 5 overs each and the part timers in the selection turned their arm over as I was never going to bowl them out in half a session.

At the end of this match, Stephen Croft improved his ground fielding due to training.
