v Warwickshire (OD)

Two changes for the line up with Karl Brown out and a chance for Rob Jones coming in. In the bowling department left armer Toby Lester is changed for another spinner in Kerrigan.

Lancashire lost the toss but were put into bat, a choice they would have made themselves. Inside the first 10 overs Lancashire moved patiently to 51-0 but then the Bears bowlers began to pull things back for the away side. Davies fell for a run-a-ball 43, bowled by one that moved away and clipped the top of off stump and then new batsmen Jones swung wildly and was trapped on the pad for just 7.

Only 25 runs had been scored off the last 10 overs and when Hameed attempted to force the pace he could only manage to chip to mid on for a tame 28 off some 60 deliveries. Livingstone went on the counter attack but Chanderpaul (10) and Vilas (1) gave their wickets away attempting to do the same. With half the innings gone Lancashire were in real trouble at 103-5 and Livingston was forced to reign in his intent before Rankin trapped him LBW for 18.

With a long and vulnerable tail, Lamb couldn't hang around and it was left to Clark to attempt to salvage a respectable score. With the aussie grit of Joe Mennie at the other end, they complied a 62 run partnership. With 13 overs to go the tail wagged sensibly to creep the score close to 200 thanks to Mennie keeping as much strike as possible. Olly stone (4-28) mopped up the last wicket leaving Mennie stranded on 47(62) and the Lancashire innings stalled on 202 inside 47 overs.

With just over 4 runs an over needed for victory, this required a strong bowling performance from the home team to stand any chance of a win. Sadly the bowling was found wanting as Warwickshire opened with a century stand inside 20 overs. Despite Parry breaking this partnership and Lancashire resorting to death bowling with less than half the innings gone, Warwickshire continued to score freely. A brilliant run out and some tight bowling simply wasn't enough. The target was reached with 11 overs to spare. Sam Hain (109) carried his bat to see the bears through to their first win in the competition and inflict Lancashire's first defeat of the season in all competitions.

Warwickshire (2pts) bt Lancashire by 6 wickets. MOTM: Sam Hain 109*
