v Worcester (OD)
A trip to 4th place Worcester for Lancashire and yet more changes. The misfiring Hameed is replaced at the top of the order for recalled Karl Brown. Veteran Chanderpaul is rested and youngster Alex Marsh comes in. Danny Lamb makes way for Bohannon & Tom Bailey comes in for Kerrigan as the changes are rung following misfiring and disappointing performances.
Another toss loss saw Lancashire bat first again. The opening pair played with fluency and purpose from the outset - a trend followed by the rest of the line up as Lancashire reached 100-1 inside 20 overs despite the loss of Brown (16). As the 100 partnership passed, Lancashire entered the last 20 overs at a healthy 149-1. Both Batsmen pushed on, before Jones (82) was trapped LBW. The following batsmen came in on license to push on, a luxury given the last outing. Davies continued to hammer the bowling at the other end and brought up his century in 115 balls with 10x4 and 2x6. Davies (136) became the highest scorer for a Batsmen v Worcs before Livingstone (24) ran him out with 1 over to go and Lancashire ended on 277-4
Worcs started well, racing to 62 inside the first 10 overs but a double change allowed Clark and Bohannon to account for both openers and the latter to keep pressure up on the incoming batsmen by striking regularly during his spell. Although his final over proved expensive, Bohannon finished with figures of 4-60 to keep Lancashire in the hunt. As Parry swapped ends Fisher (54) and Whitely piled on the runs to put Worcs well ahead and alleviate the pressure. The strike bowlers returned and whilst wickets started to fall at one end, Whiteley batted with calmness and control, dancing down the wicket in the penultimate over to bring up his 103* in 99 balls and secure victory in one stroke.
